Who is this funding for?
The support to a slate of project is aimed at independent European production companies developing dramas, animations or creative documentaries, which have been legally registered for at least three years and already have international experience as well as the financial capacity to undertake more than one project simultaneously. If your company does not meet these criteria, you should apply for single project funding.
Which types of projects are eligible for Slate Funding and Slate Funding 2nd stage?
Dramas, animations and creative documentaries (works that take a real-life subject as their starting point but require substantial original writing and set out an author's and/or director's point of view). All such works must be of a minimum length and your company must hold the copyright.
What specific previous experience is your company required to have for Slate Funding 2nd stage?
Only companies already selected for Slate Funding/Slate Funding 2nd stage in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 can apply for Slate Funding 2nd stage, if at least one of the included projects has entered into production. Beneficiaries of a Slate Funding/Slate Funding 2nd stage Agreement signed in 2010 cannot apply.
What specific previous experience is your company required to have in audiovisual production for Slate Funding?
Companies established in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and United Kingdom: companies submitting an application must prove that they have in the 5 years preceding their application completed two previous works.
Companies established in the other countries (countries with low audiovisual production capacity) must prove that they have in the 5 years preceding their application completed one previous work.
The company making an application must prove, in addition, that the previous work(s) has (have) been distributed commercially at international level in the 5 years preceding the application.
How much is a Slate Funding/Slate Funding 2nd stage grant worth?
The minimum grant is €70,000. The maximum grant is €190,000.
What is the total EU budget?
For 2011, the budget allocated to co-financing Slate Funding is estimated to be 6m€ (3€ for the 1st deadline and 3m€ for the 2nd) and the budget for Slate Funding 2nd stage is estimated at 4m€.
When will the results of the selection procedure be known?
For the 1st deadline (applications sent between 29/09/10 and 29/11/10), applicants will be informed of the results during the month of April 2011.
For the 2nd deadline (applications sent between 30/11/10 and 11/04/11), applicants will be informed of the results during the month of September 2011.
How likely are you to receive funding support for a slate of projects?
Project applications received by the Agency are ranked by merit at the end of the selection procedure. The best are awarded funding within the limit of the available budget. Under the last Call for Proposals (20/2009), 208 applications for a slate of projects were received, of which 64 were selected.
